Is Gambling Luck?
Gambling News is a newsletter published by gamblers who have ‘earned’ it through years of practice. The newsletter features the best articles from gamblers around the world, and is sent twice a week. If you’re a gambler, you’ll be glad to know that gambling news is not just about odds chances.
One thing that’s certain about gamblers is that they’re willing to risk a lot of money in order to win a little. Of course, as in every other endeavor, you can’t expect to win without putting up a little sweat or money. Still, if you’re able to separate ‘gambling’ itself from ‘lucky,’ then what’s so bad about it? Is it really cheating?
Gambling may seem like a game of chance. There are no cards, dice, horses, or any other object that you need to depend on for winning. So why do people gamble? The answer is emotion. The stress and strain of gambling pulls at the heart strings and causes people to let go of their feelings, to give into their emotions, to gamble.
Gambling brings out the wild in people. The thrill of winning and the worry of losing is oftentimes too much to handle for many people. In order to ‘comfort’ themselves, gamblers will choose betting odds that are too ‘in the red.’ Unfortunately, there are so many people who do just this–without even realizing it–that it ends up being a problem. It leads many gamblers to commit ‘psychological gamblers’ disorder.
Many psychologists believe that gambling, much like many things we indulge in for relief, can eventually lead to a ‘fix’ for many problems in life. If you find yourself suffering from anxiety, depression, or even thoughts of suicide, the gamblers’ fallacy might be true. But this isn’t to say that it won’t be worth trying. Gamblers may not realize how damaging their behavior is, but they can still find help.
For some, especially those who have a problem with self-esteem, finding a way out of gambling may be the key to solving a problem. Gamblers Anonymous is an example of a group that can provide Gamblers Luck Retraining Therapy. This group aims to help people see that they aren’t the only ones with issues related to gambling. Through group activities, such as games and exercise, members can learn to take control of their lives. Gamblers can’t make anything happen out of their luck, but through the actions of a few, things can change in the long run.
